چکیده

Maybe this is one of the reasons this particular thought experiment has not received much detailed attention in the philosophical literature on thought experiments up to date. As I want to argue in this paper, this neglect is to be regretted, as one of the philosophical accounts of the function of thought experiments can provide the clue to a most fruitful understanding of Heisenberg’s thought experiment. In this way the philosophical discussion on thought experiments ∗The author is Research Assistant of the Fund for Scientific Research — Flanders (Belgium).

Interpreting Heisenberg Interpreting Quantum States

The paper investigates possible readings of the later Heisenberg's remarks on the nature of quantum states. It discusses, in particular, whether Heisenberg should be seen as a proponent of the epistemic conception of states---the view that quantum states are not descriptions of quantum systems but rather reflect the state assigning observers' epistemic relations to these systems. On the one han...

Exploring the implications of the laws and principles of quantum physics in the field of talent (quantum theory of talent)

The issue of talent-discovering is one of the most important issues in the field of education and research that has always been a concern for educational systems. Studying the issues of identifying and guiding talented students can illuminate a large part of the activities of the executors and practitioners in order to accomplish their mission effectively. On the other hand, quantum physics has...

9 v 2 1 0 M ay 2 00 1 Locality in the Everett Interpretation of Heisenberg - Picture Quantum Mechanics ∗

Bell’s theorem depends crucially on counterfactual reasoning, and is mistakenly interpreted as ruling out a local explanation for the correlations which can be observed between the results of measurements performed on spatially-separated quantum systems. But in fact the Everett interpretation of quantum mechanics, in the Heisenberg picture, provides an alternative local explanation for such cor...

The Role of Decoherence in the Copenhagen Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics

The Copenhagen interpretation is an interpretation of quantum mechanics formulated mainly by Niels Bohr and also Werner Heisenberg while collaborating in Copenhagen. According to a poll in 1997, the Copenhagen interpretation is the most widely-accepted interpretation of quantum mechanics [1] and it was the first general attempt to understand the world of atoms. Since Copenhagen Interpretation w...
